Yet another terrible fishing experience on the whiteadder, caught a few trout but they were smaller than small, so it was back to Chatton for another crack at the monster trout. Best time to go this time of year is around 4pm and stay for a few hours to catch the trout rising, the last time i was there i lost a fly that was working great, so a trip to Gamefair in Berwick was in order, i stocked up on the "Hares Ear" fly hoping the fish would go mad for it again as last time.
Got to Chatton to see the lake already buzzing with activity, trout were everywhere, a few were getting caught on top, i tried the hares ear but unfortunately it wasn't happening this time...i stayed for three hours and not so much as a nibble...really starting to get frustrated now.
I must be doing something wrong, i think its time to radically change things, I'm going to change my leader, my line and everything to be honest, I'm going to look online for successful fly fishing on still water techniques and when Ive done all that I'll hit Chatton again.....watch this space...
